Nice to Meet You!

Hello! My name is Payton Atkinson and I’m a freelance artist based out of London, Ontario. I graduated with my BFA from Western University in 2025 and now work in the comics industry largely as a colourist and cover artist, as well as at comic conventions under Paytoons.

I have always been a storyteller. Making my own comics has been an intrinsic part of my practice since I was a young girl, drawing my inspiration from movies and TV shows, history, daily life, and of course, other creatives. Now, one of my biggest inspirations is community: what’s better than connecting with those around you to create something awesome?

My art style often incorporates bright colours, structured and dynamic poses, and clear emotion. It’s important to me that a piece is able to tell a story on its own, with or without text. So, whether it’s a series of panels or a splash page, I always aim for clarity, drawing the audience in through storytelling that goes deeper than just words.
